Iran Launches Its First Air Taxi Service
WANA (May 24) – Iran officially launched its first air taxi service on Saturday, coinciding with the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr (in Iran-Iraq 8 years war) and the inauguration of several projects by the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
The launch ceremony was marked by a video message from President Pezeshkian.
The service commenced with flights operating between Karaj and Qazvin, departing from Payam International Airport located in Alborz Province.
In its initial phase, the air taxi aims to connect various regions across the country, with cities such as Qazvin, Kashan, Zanjan, and Rasht among the key destinations being targeted for service expansion.
Currently, 24 aircraft of varying capacities—ranging from single-seat and three-seat models to eight-seat and 25-seat planes—are stationed at Payam International Airport.
This fleet is seen as a significant step toward transforming Iran’s aviation industry and enhancing domestic air mobility.
